Snowmobile Safety Tips
  • Don't travel alone.

  • Let someone know where you are going and when you will return. Use check-in and check-out stations if they are provided.

  • Ride on the right-hand side of the trail.

  • Check with local officials for avalanche warnings.

  • Be prepared for the unexpected. Carry basic emergency and survival equipment, tool kit, spare parts and extra gas.

  • Become familiar with your snowmobile before going on extended trips.

  • Wear adequate winter clothing, protective goggles and sunscreen.

  • Do not cross frozen lakes and streams without checking ice thickness first.

  • Watch the weather. Winter storms can set in very rapidly, resulting in white-outs.

  • Keep yourself physically-fit.

  • Keep your snowmobile in good operating condition.

  • Be careful when fueling your snowmobile; spilled gas can freeze and irritate bare skin.
